"Scientists develop printable water sensor"

25 March, 2019

A collaboration between the research groups of Prof. Shlomo Magdassi from HUJ, Israel and Prof. Pilar Amo-Ochoa from UAM, Spain, led to the successful development of a new 3D-printed composite for the detection of water. The composite contains a non-porous copper-based coordination polymer, embedded within a porous polymeric matrix. The material changes its color from purple to blue, upon water adsorption, and can detect water concentrations as low as 0.3-4%. This is one of the first examples for the 3D-printing of coordination polymers, which are a broad family of functional materials with diverse magnetic, conductive, and optical properties.  Click here to read more
